5 FASHION WEEK TRENDS YOU CAN INCORPORATE INTO YOUR #MUMLYF

BY JESSICA BOSCO

Australian Fashion Week has been and gone for another year, and while most of the clothes we see sashaying down the runway won't be in store until Spring/Summer, there are some trends you can jump on board now and get ahead of the curve...

1. Super-sized sleeves

Statement sleeves have been around for a few years now, but this season it's all about the balloon sleeve or bishop sleeve. Seen at Camilla and Marc, Alice McCall, Macgraw, Bianca Spender, We Are Kindred and Albus Lumen.

2. Check mate

Checks have been cropping up everywhere for Autumn/Winter and it seems they're set to stick around for the warmer months but think gingham and softer hues a la Karla Spetic, Camilla and Marc and Bianca Spender.

3. Suited Up

While power suits have been everywhere lately and we love them, unless you're an office mama there's not that many opportunities to wear them in your #mumlyf (that said if we see a mum rocking a power suit at the park you'll get a high-five from us!), but this season we're seeing loads of relaxed tailoring, which means this trend can translate a little easier from work to casual wear. Think slightly oversized shirts, loose pants (yes please) and soft silky fabrics as seen at Anna Quan, Albus Lumen and Christopher Esber.

4. Oversized bags

This one is every mums dream! Bid farewell to the teeny-tiny handbags we've been seeing in favour of the uber-practical (well maybe not because they were SO big) oversize totes coming down the runway at Camilla and Marc. Now you can literally fit the kitchen sink in your bag if you need it (and let's face it when you go anywhere with a kid that's what it feels like). While feel free to go 100% in on this trend (send us your pics!) or do what we'll do and invest in a chic shopper and leave those mini bags for date night or display in your wardrobe....

5. Blue baby

We all know and love millennial pink, and pastels are still big, but this season baby blue is where it's at if Emilia Wickstead, Christopher Esber and Albus Lumen have anything to do with it.
